How to refresh a loaf of bread

Updated: 5 days ago

Fresh loaf of bread on the counter

Follow these simple steps to refresh a loaf of bread. Whether the loaf is a few days old or you are looking for the "fresh from the oven" texture, then this is the trick for you. So simple, yet yielding great results.

  1. Preheat your oven to 400F

  2. Dampen the loaf of bread with water. Be generous, but do not soak the crumb (the interior) only the crust

  3. Place the loaf on a parchment paper lined sheet pan and put into the oven

  4. Bake for 20 minutes. If the loaf is frozen you may need to bake upwards to 30 minutes, but no longer than that

  5. Remove the loaf from the oven and place onto a cooling rack

  6. Allow the loaf to cool for at least an hour before slicing

This is such a simple trick that will bring a loaf back to life.

Refreshed loaves do need to be eaten within the day of refreshing. They do tend to stale out quickly.

ENJOY!
